Go Doc Go travelled to Petit Goave, Haiti to join Foundation for Advancement of Haitian Midwives, Inc (FAHM) at their continuing education conference.

Go Doc Go volunteers Ingrid Frengle-Burke and Dr. Leslie Bivozi helped train 25 midwives at the conference, and screened 80 women for cervical cancer with the help of the local foundation C2C (Community to Community) which helped coordinate and publicize the clinic.

They were joined by Dr. Antonio Jean Baptiste, an Ob/Gyn from Port au Prince, and his wife, Meredith who is a midwife and participated in the teaching at the conference. They were also joined by FAHM founder, Martine Jean-Baptiste.

The 25 midwives rotated between the 3 screening rooms so that each had the opportunity to observe VIA ( visual inspection with acetic acid), Cryotherapy and biopsies.

Many of the women who participated were also treated for STDs and felt that the clinic definitely raised awareness of cervical cancer in Petit Goave, where only two of the participants had ever before heard of screening for cervical cancer.
