Go Doc Go Founder and Executive Director, Dr. Maggie Carpenter & Program Director, Patricia Bacon, travelled to Port -au-Prince, Haiti on June 27th for the second annual conference on preventing cervical cancer arranged by  Haiti sans Cervical Cancer. 

It was a great chance to meet other groups who are working on cervical cancer prevention in Haiti and discuss the newest developments in HPV testing, VIA, and Thermoablation.  The subject of HPV tests replacing Pap smears for both cost and efficiency was discussed, as well as trying to distribute self-HPV tests and then treating all women who had high risk HPV even if lesions were not clearly visible.

This conference was a great opportunity for all the groups working in women’s healthcare in Haiti to meet and discuss what they were doing to prevent and treat cervical cancer.
